Information from National Archives - Confederate Military Service Index (Roll 61).

Enlisted on 01 Dec 1861 at Webster, N.C. in Company F of the North Carolina 29th Infantry Regiment which had been organized at Ashvlle in 24 Sep 1861.

03 Jul 1964 - Captured just Northwest of Atlanta, Georgia, near Smyrna (identified in some records as Chattahoochie which is the river that runs through the North side of Atlanta). He was a private at the time of his capture.

Sent to Louisville, Kentucky, probably through Nashville, Tennessee. Received at Louisville on 13 Jul 1864.

13 Jul 1864 - Transferred to Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Indiana. Received at Camp Morton on 14 Jul 1964.

15 Mar 1865 - Transferred for exchange - "Paroled at Camp Morton, Indiana and forwarded to Point Lookout, Maryland via Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, for exchange, in pursuance of instructions received by telegram from Commissionary General of Prisoners, dated Washington, D.C., March 10, 1865."

Submitter's Note: Clyde Henry Buchanan's information indicates that Julius was "Paroled and transferred to Boulware's Wharf, James River, Virginia where he was received on 23 Mar 1865 for exchange."
